Walmart Barely Raises Poverty Wages, Media Celebrates

Naomi Karavani reports on Walmart’s response to its inability to find enough workers. In the wake of the covid pandemic the corporate media focused on a “labor shortage” narrative that blamed unemployment benefits for workers’ hesitance to return to low-waged jobs. Their narrative tried to hide that workers just didn’t want to work for low wages. Well-paying jobs weren’t experiencing the same labor issues and now Walmart’s owners have taken several, weak, steps to try to attract workers back into their soul-destroying stores.
