In the wake of the covid pandemic the corporate media focused on a “labor shortage” narrative that blamed unemployment benefits for workers’ hesitance to return to low-waged jobs. Their narrative tried to hide that workers just didn’t want to work for low wages. Well-paying jobs weren’t experiencing the same labor issues and now Walmart’s owners have taken several, weak, steps to try to attract workers back into their soul-destroying stores.
