Also
US didnt have 2 aircraft carriers in Middle East
Also, US was not ready for confrontation in Iraq and Syria
Since then, US consolidated its forces in key bases
Iran was not ready to block the strait of hormuz
And oil was still worth something back in early january
This is now changing as both parties started moving the pieces on the chess board
In fact we are just a few moves away from direct conflict
