When the Oracle meets the Oracle, a duality ensures.

Folks, not sure what to make of this one. Is this another IBM moment for Buffett or is he up to something. I must admit I haven’t researched Oracle to form an educated opinion at this point and I could be totally wrong but last I checked Oracle had slowed growth and market segments eaten away by upstarts (i.e: Redis, MongoDB); the Java ecosystem is sort’ish of a moat but the alternatives have been started to take dominance in the enterprise (i.e: IBM). On the cloud side, I don’t really know, it seems to me they are a bit late to the game.

End to end, an interesting move, I will definitely be tracking this one closely. But remember, because Buffett buys, doesn’t mean it is the right move for the retail investors, the game is played differently at the institutional level.

Happy Investing!
