What Do They Know? Why Are So Many Of The Super Wealthy Preparing Bug Out Locations?

A lot of ultra-rich people are quietly preparing to “bug out” when the time comes.  They are buying survival properties, they are buying farms in far away countries and they are buying deep underground bunkers.  In fact, a prominent insider at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland says that “very powerful people are telling us they’re scared” and he shocked his audience when he revealed that he knows “hedge fund managers all over the world who are buying airstrips and farms in places like New Zealand”.  So what do they know?  Why are so many of the super wealthy suddenly preparing bug out locations?  When the elite of the world start preparing for doomsday, that is a very troubling sign.  And right now the elite appear to be quietly preparing for disaster like never before.
The insider that I mentioned above is named Robert Johnson.  He is the president of the Institute of New Economic Thinking, and what he recently told a packed audience in Davos is making headlines all over the planet

With growing inequality and the civil unrest from Ferguson and the Occupy protests fresh in people’s mind, the world’s super rich are already preparing for the consequences. At a packed session in Davos, former hedge fund director Robert Johnson revealed that worried hedge fund managers were already planning their escapes. “I know hedge fund managers all over the world who are buying airstrips and farms in places like New Zealand because they think they need a getaway,” he said.

But he didn’t stop there.
In a separate interview, Johnson admitted that “very powerful people are telling us they’re scared” and that the elite “see increasing evidence of social instability and violence”.  You can watch video of the entire interview below…

Wow.
And Johnson is not the only one saying these things.
The following quote comes from the Mirror

His comments were backed up by Stewart Wallis, executive director of the New Economics Foundation, who when asked about the comments told CNBC Africa: “Getaway cars the airstrips in New Zealand and all that sort of thing, so basically a way to get off.  If they can get off, onto another planet, some of them would.”

Of course not all elitists are planning to jet off to the other side of the globe.
Some are planning to go deep underground when things hit the fan.
For example, there is an underground decommissioned missile silo in Kansas that has been transformed into luxury survival condos by a real estate developer.  The following is from a Wall Street Journal article about those condos…

We are primarily funded by readers. Please subscribe and donate to support us!

The so-called Survival Condo complex boasts full and half-floor units that cost $1.5 million to $3 million each. The building can accommodate up to 75 people, and buyers include doctors, scientists and entrepreneurs, says developer Larry Hall.
Mr. Hall, who lives in a Denver suburb, bought his first missile-silo site in Kansas in 2008 and completed construction in December 2012. A year later, he says, the development had sold out. Work on the second security compound—the one where Mr. Allen bought a unit—is under way, and Mr. Hall says he is considering additional sites in Texas and elsewhere.
As former nuclear missile sites built under the supervision of the Army Corps of Engineers, the structures were originally designed to withstand a direct hit by a nuclear bomb. At ground level, they can be sealed up by two armored doors weighing 16,000 pounds each. Mr. Hall added sophisticated water and air-treatment facilities, state-of-the-art computer network technology and several alternate power generation capabilities.

Other wealthy individuals are turning their current homes into high tech security fortresses.
Those that are involved in providing these kinds of services have seen business absolutely soar in recent years…

Wealthy families across the country are shelling out millions to protect their loved ones from intruders, natural disasters or the apocalypse as home security goes increasingly sci-fi.
Companies that provide concerned homeowners with futuristic gadgets – and a priceless peace of mind – have revealed the growing demand of costly bunkers, passageways, panic rooms and recognition software.
Chris Pollack – president of Pollack+Partners, a design and construction adviser in Purchase, New York – told Forbes that, while security has always been important for the wealthiest clients, the spending on home security has noticeably grown in the past five years.
And the options available on the market are like something from a Bond film.

For much more on this, please see my previous article entitled “Why Are So Many Wealthy People Building Futuristic High Tech Security Bunkers?
So why are all of these wealthy people so alarmed?
Well, the truth is that they can see what is happening.
They can see that millions of people are falling out of the middle class.  They can see that society is breaking down in thousands of different ways.  They can see that anger and frustration are rising to unprecedented levels.  And they can see that things are likely to boil over once the next major economic crisis strikes.
Even though the economy is still fairly stable for the moment, signs of increasing economic suffering are everywhere.  For example, the Los Angeles Times is reporting that homeless encampments are rapidly spreading throughout the Los Angeles area…

Over the last two years, street encampments have jumped their historic boundaries in downtown Los Angeles, lining freeways and filling underpasses from Echo Park to South Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, a city-county agency, received 767 calls about street encampments in 2014, up 60% from the 479 in 2013.

We live at a time when almost everyone is getting poorer except for the elite.  The top 1 percent now have close to 50 percent of the wealth in the entire world, and each year wealth becomes even more concentrated in their hands.
The elite know that eventually a breaking point is going to come.  Those that are smart don’t want to be around when that happens.
And we got a few clues about what things might look like what that time comes from the recent “snow scare” in New York.  Frightened consumers wiped out supplies of bread, milk and eggs within just a few hours.  People started to take advantage of one another, even the journalists seemed like they were on the verge of panic, and virtually the entire city shut down.
All of this over just a few snowflakes.
So what is going to happen when we have a real crisis?
If the elite are preparing to bug out, it is hard to blame them.
I wouldn’t want to be right in the middle of a volcano when it erupts either.
Life is about to dramatically change, and signs of the coming storm are everywhere.
I hope that you are getting prepared for what is about to hit us while you still can.

  1. And when it’s over, some of us will be waiting for them when they come out, and their money is worthless. We will act all biblical like…kill every man, but keep the women and girls for yourselves. A new day has to dawn. It ain’t gonna be pretty.

The rich know what’s going down, but most citizens have no clue. Same as Titanic, the rich got to ride the life boats, the rest went down.

  3. Lets just weld the doors shut and block the air vents. I don’t think that they realize that there will be no escape after the crimes that they have committed.

    • If they think New Zealand is far enough away they are stooopid. How long can they stay underground in a bunker, how much water storage is down there? What about air vents, it wont be pee coming down them, it will be gasoline.
Or…they could start to give back just a smidgen of their grotesque ill-gotten wealth in the form of reasonable taxes and higher interest rates. But something tells me they’d rather be burned alive in an underground bunker than do that.
Best of luck to them. A mob knows no mercy.

The way i look at this wealth jazz is if i can walk into any store and buy anything my little heart desires, that would be enough!

  4. As a NYC resident, I was alarmed not by the storm but the officials using the “shelter in place” command. I can’t help but wonder if this isn’t just a dry run to see how the masses will respond if directed by authority. Own NYC and the rest will be easy.

    • There is no power in the world, short of a bullet, that can keep people in their homes for more than a few days.
Recent article: 44 percent don’t have first-aid kits. 48 percent lack emergency supplies. 53 percent do not have a minimum three-day supply of nonperishable food and water at home. 55 percent believe local authorities will come to their rescue if disaster strikes
Shelter in place? No, hungry people do not ask, they take.

  6. One word: Fukushima. The reactors in Japan have not been fixed. The Pacific Ocean marine life population is collapsing. The seals, the walruses, sardines, salmon, starfish and orca wales and many more marine species are our canaries in the coal mine. Trillions upon trillions of Becquerel’s of radiation are pumping out of Fukushima a month. Understand that the U.S. West Coast is getting fried. If the world doesn’t pull together to fix the Fukushima mess, eventually the rest of the U.S. will be next. Yes, I agree with others who think that the world economic situation is very scary, but deep in my heart I think that the higher ups know which way the wind is blowing. They know that our food and water supplies are getting contaminated with Fukushima radiation and the dramatically elevated cancer risk is coming to the United States. Plus, once Americans understand just how badly they are getting screwed and fried, it’s no wonder all those who can escape, will escape.

    • US already is next. The jet stream already dumped the fallout from the original meltdown and continues to dump any atmospheric released all over North America. Though that high pressure system that caused the famous Cali drought may have helped us somewhat since it blocked Pacific rain that would have rained radiation down on food crops. Why do you think automakers in Japan are now setting up indoor factories….to grow lettuce.

    • Yes, i was gonna comment about that same radiation jazz too, a key off gag order subject, for that fake corporate media out there. Sure we know something catastrophic is happening in Japan right now, and this threatens the continued existence of all life.
Fact is, its gotta get to the point (If we haven’t already surpassed that point of no return already?) Where they may have to take some drastic measures that may sound a little bit insane at first. Like carving up Japan’s dead nuke power site to extract all that hellishly hot core material and just jettison this crap into deep space.
      Or
Yea, like that show Space 1999 where moon base Alpha was a dumping ground for all that nuclear waste jazz.
i kinda believe the following statement; if we truly did go to the moon and returned , many times in the 60s and early 70s using what is not considered obsolete technology. Then riding ourselves of these deadly toxic materials via transport them all into deep space, storing them on the lunar surface of the moon is not outside the rim of super science possibilities in the least…….
      Agree?

  7. Why is money only lent to those who already have money?
Why is money only created to fund the projects of the wealthy?
Why was money created to bail out the financial markets after 2009?
What is the purpose of money? Is it to enforce an artificial class system?
Why are we throwing away the minds, talents, labors and dreams of 90% of the population while funding the dreams of the 1%? Can money only be used to help those who don’t need it? Should it be used that way?
The upper classes know that when people wake up and realize the tyranny they have lived under for generations now they will act out violently and kill the liars and tyrants. Run, hide, fight back if you will but every single person alive today who is classed as super wealthy will die, their families will die, their assets will be taken, their system broken and the people will do it because the people are moral. Morality demands justice. Capitalism is a lie if there is control of money by the rich.

    • Should financial institutions exist to rake in a profit for a select few individuals or should they exist for the benefit of society? Providing capital for public and private ventures that have merit is a good thing. Parasitic, rent seeking behemoth banks that gamble with depositor money must be remade into something useful to society.

        • Really? So Argentina didn’t suffer an economic collapse in the 1990s? Greece isn’t still the the throes of one now? Russia didn’t go through a severe depression after the collapse of the Soviet Union? There was no earthquakes in Indonesia or Haiti? No Hurricane Katrina? Going back farther, we find more collapses, more natural disasters and more war. What makes you think America in the 21st century is immune from any of these and more?

          • USA ain’t F’in Argentina. Everytime I read, these fear monger, gloom and doom articles. I call them out for what they are “BS”. I’m fed up with this doom porn, going strong since 2008, 1999, maybe 1971…… now 2015. no collapse I’m really fikn disappointed. Buy silver crash JPM LOL

          • Really? I am so glad you ignored everything except Argentina, because when you get right down to it, beside America, Argentina is the single most important bellwether of all things on this planet. After all, the rest of the western countries and natural disasters all over the globe matter not.
So, we aren’t Argentina, we aren’t Greece, we aren’t France we aren’t Russia, we aren’t England, we aren’t Spain and we aren’t Japan. We also don’t have any debt, budget deficits, or 100+ trillion of unfunded liabilities. That’s good to know. I am also very happy to hear that no matter what happens, natural disasters, financial collapse, systemic corruption, solar flares, terrorist attacks on the infrastructure, America is IMMUNE from everything, because, well, we’re Americans.
After reading, and reflecting on, your well thought and insightful post, I am so relieved. Thank – you for assuaging my concerns. Now I can go back and put my head in the sand and only worry about important things, like the Superbowl and the Kardashians and Naked and Afraid and cool stuff like that. AWESOME!!!

          • my problem has always been, the schysters like mike malloney alex jones max keiser, snyder the owner of this blog. pushing bull shyte hype for there own agenda. I once bought into eminent collapse. like I thought 2011 was it. and here we are in 2015. Yea 2nd depression is coming. But not any time soon. maybe a decade or 2 out. japan has been doing QE for 2 decades, USA less than 1. so we got a long ride down. That’s my point. G and S will not protect you either.

          • Yes, I agree that is the problem. It is coming but nobody can say when or how bad with any certainty. I also agree when it does happen, it is going to be terrible and a long, hard row to hoe.

          • the title of this blog “the rich are getting ready to bug out” Do you know how many time in the last 15 years, a schyster had a blog or article or zerohedge, with a title like that? preying on the Dumb and weak minded I believe.

    • A guy from inside Davos says they are scared, really scared. That does not sound like a far fetched claim to me.
Now, why they don’t try to avert this crisis is a real mystery to me. They could, fairly easily, you know.

  8. The politics of underground living will be intolerable where the priviliged population is not 1% but 90-95% (they’ll need minions because without them they won’t survive.) They’ll bitch and backstab and plot to be king. Their sense of entitlement and usually being obeyed means peaceful coexistence is not possible.

  9. The wealthy are preparing “bug out locations” for when the final phase of their economic warfare rolls out. Once 6.5 billion are completely destitute and poor like in the 3rd world, there will be nothing to stop the revolution. That’s why the super wealthy are “scared” and “worried”. They’ve created this world and sculpted it expecting to be exalted like the pharaohs and kings of old only to find that the billions are more likely to revolt than fall to their knees. This isn’t doom porn, it’s an obvious reaction that the king has when he sees the villagers coming for him.

  10. okay i have to say one thing our parents never asked us kids to be revengeful so don’t walk that path, take your families today and tell them of the crisis, one family that unites another family unites an entire community..and so on, don’t worry i’m also damn upset that we are just gonna be left to rot top surface…but when their food in their bunkers are finished they have to come out…so we are human beings,i hardly have any money, everything happens for a reason, killing didn’t solve anything, don’t even give a damn about the elite as well they are just useless and only no how to create war,but as ordinary people like you and i have that strive to survive, well can you guess who will becoming to us for help? all i want to say we are human beings treat one another gently, don’t worry yourselves into oblivion,we didn’t screw up the middle-east we didn’t mess the ocean with radiation,we didn’t cast our families away that’s the difference, and i sure as hell won’t allow a poor family or any family for that matter to die so dishonorably. You and I are the Knight’s overwhelming armour….stay steadfast,we will survive top side. Now lets rock Earth!!

people this all can be averted if we come together and remove them from all of our lives
we arrest all jews world wide corral them behind walls they themselves created in Israel and make sure they have no contact with anyone outside the wall keep them there until they feed off themselves and are no longer a threat to any human being
And throw every single jew supporter in there with them and let them realize what these parsites really are all about.
jews are the root of all evil and they must be stopped at all cost ……….

  15. Hmm, most of these rich folks honestly do understand the true psyche of a life form known as a human being. They have good reason to be frightened for they know what all of us are hiding just below the surface. Yeah, we may look civilized and act civilized , but we are not civilized in the least, for when disaster strikes, we go really crazy. Thus, through a kinda metamorphosis, Mr. Hyde surfaces every time to stay in complete control for the long haul. I seem to remember those riots in the 60s like it was yesterday. One night i witnessed this transformational jazz firsthand. Yes, while trying to escape this insane savage violence that turned our fabulous Motor City into a freaking war zone. My gang fought all the way though that night to protect our East-side neighborhood from these creatures that acted more subhuman mad men. Hell I’m not talking about evil scumbags that you may find in some dirty jail cell with assault charges and such. No way ~ I’m talking about every day folks, some you would meet delivering the mail or packing those groceries with a friendly smile and please come again trademarked signature. No, sadly these folks from many parts of Detroit had become animals driven by nothing but instinct. All one need do is look at that archived footage to see that all to present darkside jazz. So knowing this better than most out there, many whom continuously embrace mass stupidity on a galactic scale. The educated elite a.k.a leading citizens of the world who are intelligent enough to have scripted something so mind-boggling as those faked moon landings, are indeed smart enough to know that when push comes to shove, war something economic, manufactured or a natural disaster, it’s far better to be resting comfortably deep underground in some well fortified shelter with all the comforts of home…lol
