“The kiddy version contains Tris, which is short for tromethamine, as the buffer. PBS, phosphate-buffered saline, is the buffer used for adults. Extra salt, both sodium chloride and potassium chloride, have been removed in the version for kids. These minor changes make the vaccine product more stable at regular refrigerator temperatures for longer periods of time. The kid version vials can be stored unopened in regular refrigerators for up to 10 weeks.”
