‘When you’re borrowing to pay interest, you’re cooked.’

Peter Hitchens said it in a TRIGGERnometry interview.  This is the classic late-stage decline pattern. Debt service eats the budget, productive capacity shrinks, institutions rot, and the political class keeps pretending the numbers still add up. The currency is the next thing that will force the reality check.

Peter Hitchens told TRIGGERnometry the UK government is now borrowing money simply to pay the interest on its debts.
He compared it to a private person doing the same and said anyone would expect trouble.
Industrial capacity was largely destroyed in the Thatcher years and later, leaving little ability to rebuild.
The education system has been trashed so the country no longer produces enough trained people or rational thinkers.
The criminal justice system and police force are so broken they might as well have been abducted by aliens.
Trial delays are atrocious and the quality of justice when it finally arrives is poor.
Transport is congested and falling apart, adding to the sense that nothing works.
Hitchens said the country is obviously finished and it is only a question of when everyone notices.
