Hydrogen-powered car shatters the land speed record after a $100 million investment.

The JCB Hydromax made 2 runs at the Bonneville Salt Flats in
Utah, the first at 400.632 MPH and the second at 412.135,
averaging 406.32 MPH.

The previous record for a hydrogen-powered vehicle was set by
the BMW H2R at just 185.5 MPH in 2004.

The driver of the car, former Royal Air Force pilot Andy Green,
said he barely had to steer the “beast” of a car.

“This is the first of a new breed. They have created a new
class at Bonneville Speed Week for hydrogen racing, the
internal combustion engine. And it’s not only a new class, but
it’s also blown every other hydrogen car out of the water with
this record.”
