Three Secret Service officials have been put on leave.
One of them is Anthony Guglielmi, the agency’s chief of communications.
All three work in the communications office.
Their security clearances were pulled.
Their work devices were taken away.
And the Secret Service says the three are under investigation for potential misconduct by its Office of Professional Responsibility.
That is already a pretty serious situation.
Because this isn’t some random office inside the government.
The Secret Service is supposed to protect the president and handle extremely sensitive security information.
And now the agency is investigating people from the office that handles its communications.
The exact allegations have not been made public yet.
That part is important.
There are reports that the investigation involves unauthorized leaks of sensitive information, including details surrounding Trump’s emergency travel arrangements and security concerns involving Iran.
But the Secret Service itself has not confirmed those details.
So I wouldn’t jump ahead and say we know who leaked what.
But look at what has already happened.
Three people are out.
Their clearances are gone.
Their devices are gone.
And the agency won’t say what triggered the investigation.
That is not normal office drama.
And it comes after years of the Secret Service dealing with questions about security failures and internal handling of sensitive information.
The agency was already under enormous scrutiny after the 2024 assassination attempt against Trump.
Now its own communications operation is being investigated.
That’s a very different kind of problem.
Because when sensitive information starts leaking from the people who are supposed to protect it, the question isn’t just who talked?
It’s how much information is actually under control?
And right now, we don’t know.
That may be the most concerning part of this story.
The investigation is still developing.
But three officials being pulled from their jobs, stripped of clearances and cut off from their devices is already enough to tell you this isn’t something the Secret Service is treating lightly.
