A senior Iranian political adviser said on Thursday that Iranian forces would not reopen the Strait of Hormuz until US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were removed from power.
Mohammad-Bagher Zolghadr said the continuing closure represented the beginning of Iran’s response to those responsible for the war against the country.
Iranian fighters “will not open the Strait of Hormuz until the criminal Donald Trump and the butcher Benjamin Netanyahu are removed from power,” Zolghadr said, according to Al Mayadeen.
He described that position as “the first stage of our people’s revenge.”
Zolghadr said the Iranian population had resisted an assault intended to defeat the country within days.
“The steadfastness and resilience of the Iranian people represent a nightmare for the enemies who came with the aim of defeating this people within three days,” he said, describing that objective as “a false illusion.”
The Iranian adviser said the country was determined to “break the spine of the aggressor enemy and rub the noses of the arrogant in the dust.”
He added that Iranians intended to “sever forever the hands of the plunderers of the world and the suckers of oil from attacking this pure land.”
