U.S. District Judge Jennifer Rochon in New York issued an order late Sunday barring the government from using public funds to air or place the ads. She found the plaintiffs likely to succeed and said the campaign, which has cost nearly $20 million, is likely illegal. The order requires cancellation of any remaining slots, including those for Sunday evening, and lasts 14 days. Administration had said the ads were ending Sunday. Multiple suits are pending. This is the first known judicial block on the campaign.
