Wednesday’s September CPI print (3.7 percent year-over-year, core hotter than expected) sent the S&P down 1.11 percent and the Nasdaq down 1.88 percent, the worst day since July, as October rate-hike odds jumped. On 15 October the selling continued in AI and semiconductor names. Nasdaq futures were down more than 1 percent. CoreWeave fell further after a 15 percent drop the prior session. Nvidia and other chip stocks slid. In Asia the Kospi plunged about 7.5–8 percent, led by Samsung and SK Hynix; the Nikkei fell nearly 5 percent. Treasury yields eased as money moved into bonds. Anthropic’s third-quarter revenue figures and strong TSMC results did not stop the move. Concerns centered on higher borrowing costs for AI infrastructure debt and the durability of the growth trade.
