He called the violence “unacceptable” and said it was a “miracle the toll is not heavier.” Interior Minister Nuñez earlier put turnout at 550,000 nationwide (110,000 in Paris). Organizers estimated 800,000. Looting and fires continued into the evening in Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Limoges and other cities. No further major incidents reported overnight.
