Anthropic told prospective investors Wednesday that third-quarter revenue hit $16.8 billion, up about 45% from $11.6 billion in the second quarter. It also said it was profitable on an adjusted basis. Some people at the meeting talked about a possible $1.5 trillion IPO valuation rather than the $2 trillion figure that had been discussed. Revenue growth slowed from the prior quarter, when it more than doubled. Ed Zitron said the numbers still don’t support the higher valuation and pointed to earlier losses plus large compute commitments. The company is aiming for a November listing.
