Federal investigators seized a phone from Rep. Ilhan Omar’s sister, Sahra Noor, earlier this year. Texts on that phone helped get a warrant for the Monday search of Omar’s Washington-area home. Agents left with boxes of items, including Omar’s phone, laptop, notebooks, and passport. The investigation looks at whether Omar and relatives left out or falsified details on immigration paperwork from the 1990s. Subpoenas went to Noor and others. Omar’s lawyers said the search was neither justified nor lawful. Noor skipped a book event, citing a family emergency.
