IRGC claims seven tankers hit or mined in the Strait of Hormuz today as US orders diplomats out of Saudi Arabia after Houthi airport and oil-field strikes.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy said today that four vessels involved in oil transfers in the northern Persian Gulf were tracked and set on fire, while three others collided with mines west of the Strait of Hormuz. The statement threatened strikes on US regional bases if American forces continue guiding commercial ships. The claims follow Wednesday’s Houthi attacks on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam that killed at least one person and wounded eight, plus a drone strike on Saudi Aramco’s Shaybah field that killed two. The US State Department ordered non-emergency personnel and families to leave missions in Saudi Arabia. October has recorded the highest number of shipping attacks since the war’s opening weeks in March, according to UK Maritime Trade Operations. The pattern continues disruptions that began after the February 28 start of the Iran conflict.
