- President Donald Trump granted an unconditional pardon to Venezuelan billionaire banker Julio Herrera Velutini following a campaign finance conviction.
- Herrera’s family hired Trump’s former attorney Alina Habba under a proposed deal worth up to $50 million as general counsel for a firm established by Herrera’s wife.
- Habba accepted the contract while serving as U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey prior to resigning after her appointment was ruled unlawful.
- Habba and White House officials denied any link between her hiring and the presidential pardon secured by Herrera.
It might be as cheap as $300k, plus an extra $100k give or take.
Trump has pardoned almost 2,000 people in his second term. One person was pardoned for fraud, arrested and convicted and then pardoned a second time. There actually isn’t any rule of law in this country anymore. You could commit the most obvious crimes and you’ll be pardoned for it and no one bats an eye.
January 6th Mass Pardon (~1,500+ people): On Day 1 of his second term (January 20, 2025), Trump announced a sweeping mass pardon for nearly everyone charged or convicted in connection with the January 6, 2021, Capitol incident.
“Fake Electors” Mass Pardon (77+ people): In November 2025, a second mass pardon targeted individuals involved in the 2020 alternate electors scheme.
Individual Pardons & Commutations: Combined with standard individual grants for allies, crypto executives, and business figures, the cumulative figure easily passes the 1,800–2,000 mark.
