Petition to President Trump to Protect Free Speech on Internet

The social media tech giants — FacebookTwitterWordPressDisqus — are all owned and operated by liberals/Democrats/Progressive, i.e., the Left. Although they are separate corporations, their similar political partisanship and ideology make them a virtual monopoly. When they each act to censor and stifle the American people’s freedom of speech in social and alternative media, their collective reach approaches totalitarian in scope.

There is a petition on WhiteHouse.gov to President Trump, that he requests Congress to pass a law prohibiting the social-media tech giants from banning and censoring our speech on the Internet.

Below is the petition:

Protect Free Speech in the Digital Public Square

Created by W.C. on August 28, 2018

The internet is the modern public square. It is where political campaigns are fought and won, where journalism is created and distributed, and where grassroots movements are born. Yet, the free and open internet has become a controlled, censored space, monopolized by a few unaccountable corporations.

By banning users from their platforms, those corporations can effectively remove politically unwelcome Americans from the public square. That is repugnant to our shared values of free speech and freedom of the press.

The President should request that Congress pass legislation prohibiting social media platforms from banning users for First Amendment-protected speech. The power to block lawful content should be in the hands of individual users – not Mark Zuckerberg or Jack Dorsey.

The petition needs 100,000 signatures by September 27, 2018 to get a response from the White House.

We are primarily funded by readers. Please subscribe and donate to support us!

Begun today, the petition thus far has 3,060 signatures.
