Protests have been raging in west central Tunisian city of Kasserine, where police used tear gas to disperse stone-throwing demonstrators.

The protests erupted after the death of a journalist who set himself on fire to protest economic problems in the north African nation.

18 people have been arrested, officials said on Wednesday.
