Albany, N.Y. — The federal government will deploy the U.S. Navy hospital ship Comfort to New York City to help the state confront the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said today.
The ship has 1,000 hospital rooms, including operating rooms, Cuomo said. The move is meant to help bolster the state’s health care system as cases of the virus continue to increase in the state.
“This will be an extraordinary step, obviously,” Cuomo said. “It’s literally a floating hospital, which will add capacity…”
