The revelation by Project Veritasthat ABC News killed a story three years ago by their reporter, Amy Robach, that would have exposed the sexually predatory conduct of late financier Jeffrey Epstein, raises the question: What is parent company Disney going to do about it?
And CBS Corporation – it’s obvious you fired the wrong person (Ashley Bianco) you had hired away from ABC, whom you believed leaked footage of Robach mourning the killing of her Epstein story, leaving the company vulnerable to a potential lawsuit for unfair termination. What is (pending) parent ViacomCBS going to do about it?
And with NBC News, which ran off investigative reporter Ronan Farrow, who was hot on the trailwith plenty of evidence of sexual misconduct against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein: What are you going to do about it, parent corporation Comcast?
Then there’s CNN, which along with the above networks, went to great pains to avoid the Robach/Epstein revelations. Even its Sunday program that reports on the week’s news about the media, “Reliable Sources,” hosted by Brian Stelter, ignored what Breitbart’s John Nolte called “one of the biggest media stories of the last 20 years.” What is new parent company AT&T going to do with this journalistic irresponsibility?
“That there has been so little coverage about ABC avoiding the Epstein story demonstrates again that mainstream media too often make news judgment based on sociocultural or political implications rather than journalistic values,” DePauw University professor and media critic Jeffrey McCall told Fox News.
All the news teams of these major broadcast networks – ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN (including Stelter) – ran multiple stories that examined how the National Enquirer helped Donald Trump’s presidential campaign by paying “hush money” to women with whom he allegedly had affairs. And with the Robach revelation – whose Epstein story ABC said was quashed because it did not meet its journalistic standards – many have noted that no such ethic was applied by the four major news outfits when unverified assault allegations were made against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh ahead of his Senate confirmation.
So why cover Trump’s suspected unfaithfulness and associated misbehavior, and specious charges against conservative Kavanaugh, but not that of Weinstein and Epstein ahead of the 2016 election?
McCall has the answer: “political implications.” Weinstein was a big donor and bundler for the Democrats’ nominee, Hillary Clinton. And Bill Clinton’s friendship and travels with Epstein – along with suspected participation in the mistreatment of teen girls considering past allegations of sexual misconduct against the former president – was also known.
“She (Virginia Roberts, an Epstein accuser) told me everything,” Robach said in the video obtained by Project Veritas. “She had pictures. She was in hiding for 12 years. We convinced her to come out. We convinced her to talk to us. We had Clinton, we had everything.”
