An app to get their friends to vote – There’s just one catch: it only shows registered Democrats.

Allow the app access to your contacts and it finds out if they are registered or not and if they are registered as a Democrat it will let you hassle them to vote.

There better be a version of this app for Republicans.

Mobilize Your Democrat Friends to Vote in the Next Election With This App

If last year’s presidential election taught us anything, it’s that voting is important. No matter what your political leanings, voting is important, and something we should all encourage our friends and family to do. Now there’s an app for that.

Outvote is an iOS and Android app that cross-references the contacts in your phone to public voting records and gives you an insight into your friends voting habits. Clearly, you’re not going to be able to see how they voted in recent elections, but if they haven’t voted in a while you’ll see a sleeping emoji beside their name, a clear sign you should offer to carpool to the midterms.

From the app, you can then text your friends and suggest they head to the polls or vote for a particular candidate. The idea being that your friend is going to be much more likely to go if they get a text from a buddy than they would be getting a text from a random campaign worker. You can also use the app to research candidates and learn what elections in your area might potentially be swingable.

There’s just one catch: it only shows registered Democrats.
