‘An empire about to decline’: What will the US do as its war options narrow?

During his interview on Al Mayadeen’s The Grand Standoff: Iran and the World program, former intelligence analyst Ray McGovern argued that the United States is facing mounting limits to its military and political power, pointing to its past failed attempt to subdue Yemen and the departure of US vessels from the Red Sea.

McGovern described the United States as “an empire that is about to decline in a marked way,” while criticizing President Donald Trump’s approach to the war on Iran and arguing that Stephen Miller helps ensure Trump does not stray from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s agenda.
