Rationing has been introduced for heating oil and commercial motor diesel by many companies across the country. Oil companies are looking to manage their supplies as demand surges.

Many home heating oil suppliers in Ireland have now capped the amount they will sell to domestic customers to less than 500 litres – less than half the capacity of a standard oil tank.
