Around-the-world cruise ship folds in Cambodia due to runaway fuel costs

The operator of the residential cruise ship MV Odyssey suspended its three-year global voyage today, ordering over 200 passengers off the vessel at a port in Cambodia after monthly fuel costs surged past $8,000 per cabin.

The sudden stranded-passenger crisis caps months of trouble for the voyage, which originally suffered a four-month delay on August 20 when European marine inspectors impounded the ship in Belfast over critical engine and lifeboat deficiencies.
