Saw this on twitter while originally looking at something else. I don’t live in Atlanta, but I’m sure people who do would like to know about this. Jason Dozier in Atlanta Georgia, is introducing legislation to have existing parking structures removed in order to make vehicle parking more of a hassle so it forces people to use other transportation options instead.
2 The proposed caps are not intended to deter development or put Downtown and Midtown at a competitive disadvantage. Rather, they are geared towards restricting the rare, outlier developments that plan to overbuild parking in our city’s urban core.

4 Lowering the parking maximums in Downtown and Midtown Atlanta will not solve all our transportation woes but will help ensure that Atlanta’s urban core continues to play to its strengths as a walkable, bikeable, multimodal, multi-use destination.

Quote from the legislation itself-
“Atlanta’s Transportation Plan aspires to shift a substantial portion of single-occupancy vehicle (SOV) trips to transit, walking, or biking.”
