President Biden said the U.S. military does not support House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visiting Taiwan this summer.
Stepping off Air Force One late Wednesday, Biden was asked about the possibility of a Pelosi trip, which has not been confirmed by the State Department or her office.
Biden said that “the military thinks it’s not a good idea right now,” but he noted that he was not sure “what the status of it is.”
China’s Foreign Ministry lashed out Tuesday after media reports that Pelosi (D-Calif.) was planning to visit the democratic island that is claimed by Beijing, as part of a broader tour of Asia in August.
