President Biden is reportedly poised to declare an emergency to take action on climate change on Wednesday even after Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W. Va.) effectively killed his plans for sprawling spending plans to address global warming.
As punishing heat waves roast New York, most of the U.S. and Europe, Biden may act as soon as this week to “aggressively fight to attack climate change,” Jared Bernstein, a top White House economic adviser, told reporters.
“There is a lot he can do and there is a lot he will do,” Bernstein said.
The president will seek to halt crude oil exports, sharply limit oil and gas drilling, and direct government agencies to boost renewable-energy sources.
