The national Black Lives Matter foundation is calling for amnesty for Jussie Smollett, as the left-wing actor faces a likely conviction for orchestrating a hate hoax in Chicago in 2019 seeking to portray himself as a victim. Smollett’s accused of paying two Nigerian brothers to play the role of white Trump supporters who would “attack” him in a homophobic and racist hate crime.
The BLM organization cited its commitment to abolishing the police as cause enough to let Smollett off the hook for the hoax. A statement attributed to Mena Abdullah ripped the Chicago Police Department as racist.
“In our commitment to [police] abolition, we can never believe police…over Jussie Smollett, a Black man who has been courageously present, visible, and vocal in the struggle for Black freedom.”
Smollett had originally escaped accountability after evading charges through personal connections to Cook County prosecutor Kim Foxx. A state review of the dropped charges led to the refiling of the disorderly charges against Smollett, who cost the Chicago Police Department more than a hundred thousand dollars investigating a hate hoax.
