I was eating dinner this evening, and my husband was watching ABC NEWS. The News Anchor…I believe David Mueller said: BREAKING NEWS – President Obama declares with GREAT CONFIDENCE RUSSIA HACKED ELECTION. He plans to retaliate with sanctions and other attacks against Russia soon. I think the American people are now under the threat of cyber warfare! The thing that really gets me is the phrase of “great confidence”! How does one declare war using “great confidence”? Should one not have EVIDENCE of wrongdoing. Should it not be a war crime to risk lives simply using great confidence? Should intelligence be considered great confidence in the declaration of war?
I believe CIA Director, John Brennan, who is advising President Obama is hubris having unmerited confidence. Brennan has even turned down Congress when they asked to be briefed on his “confident CIA report”. So it seems to me that all of these talking heads are leading the United States into war with Russia using GREAT HUBRIS. They have as far as I can see incorrect and unmerited reasons for causing conflict between Russia and the United States.
Further Obama is going to maneuver his actions against Russia in a way that President Trump will not be able to undo. Thus, even as Obama is walking out the door, President Trump could be walking into war. Obama has already upset Russia with declaring in the Defense Bill of 2017 more funding for the Syrian rebels working to overthrow Assad. So basically we are already fighting a proxy war with Russia in Syria. Do we really want to topple Assad and create another Libya while at war with Russia? If Obama is trying to create chaos for the American people and President Trump he is certainly doing that with great arrogance and disdain against a Country he vowed to protect and honor.
Citing unnamed US officials, the newspaper said a number of punitive measures were on the table, including “economic sanctions and diplomatic censure.” Other methods may include covert cyber-operations, the officials said.
The Obama administration was apparently trying to work out exactly how consequences for Russia could be carried out, according to The Post, which said the language in Obama’s 2015 executive order that gave him authority to respond to foreign cyberattacks “did not cover efforts to influence the electoral system.”
Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin, have been at the center of post-election accusations that Democratic Party cyberattacks were orchestrated to help President-elect Donald Trump win the White House in November.
