Canada hits Trump with 50% retaliatory tariffs on American products

Canada announced retaliatory tariffs of up to 50% on the United States on Tuesday after President Donald Trump warned Canadian leaders to “fall in line” or face consequences “far worse” than existing tariffs.

Starting Sept. 8, Canada will collect tariffs of 50, 25, and 15 percent on about 700 American products, including American steel and aluminum. The list of products ranges from household items such as aluminum foil to locomotives and steel bridges. A wide array of frozen and fresh fish will also be affected by tariffs.
