THE GOLD ALARM: NATIONS ARE NOW STARTING TO LIMIT ACCESS TO PHYSICAL GOLD
A new proposal by Central Bank of India that Gold Funds and ETFs won’t be backed by physical gold anymore.
A notice has been issued by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to all AMCs and funds restricting fresh retail investment in gold and silver funds.
The Central Bank of India wants to turn Gold ETFs into “paper gold” and you’ll get the price returns, but the fund won’t hold actual gold anymore.
Every ounce of gold bought in India bleeds the country’s Forex Reserves with already a mounting pressure on their currency.
China also recently banned leverage trading for retail on Shanghai Gold Exchange.
This echoes the 1933 US move under Executive Order 6102, when private gold ownership was restricted and Americans were required to turn in bullion as the country moved off the domestic gold standard.
Judy Shelton, Trump’s former Fed nominee and a strong advocate of gold-backed money has now joined Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s team and floating the idea of Gold-linked bonds.
Two massive nations limiting retail access to gold/silver funds while their central banks officially hoarding gold, at a time of dollar pressure and import concerns, is a clear signal of reserve strategy prioritization.
Meanwhile China has extended official gold buying for 23 consecutive months (biggest monthly addition in years in September).
At the same time China is expanding the Shanghai-Hong Kong gold vault and clearing network to support yuan-linked metal trading and reduce reliance on Western pricing.
The UK, China, Japan, South Korea and India all sold U.S. Treasuries in July and re-started buying gold. South Korea started buying gold again after 13 long years.
Gold remains the oldest neutral reserve asset that cannot be printed or frozen by another government.
When large nations simultaneously accumulate it at the official level and manage public access, it highlights its enduring role as real money outside pure fiat systems.
Foreign nations including Netherlands, France and Germany pulled out over 500 Tonnes of Gold OUT of the U.S. and storing it in the City of London.
Tokenized Gold and Silver now also landed on XRPL via

after London Metals Exchange (LME) head joined the crypto firm Ripple for tokenization of commodities on the XRP Ledger.
Either way, the tell is who is selling paper… and who is stacking metal.

The US is running a wartime-size deficit in a full-employment economy.

The buying comes amid concerns about government debt and geopolitical instability, although forecasts for future gold prices remain opinions rather than guarantees.

At least a dozen Chinese banks planned to phase out retail leveraged precious-metals trading following direction from the Shanghai Gold Exchange, according to the South China Morning Post. Customers are being redirected toward alternatives such as physical gold purchases and fixed-price accumulation plans. The reported restrictions concern particular trading products, not a general ban on owning gold.
The Netherlands moves gold reserves from North America to London

The Dutch central bank moved around 86 tonnes of gold from New York and Ottawa to London to improve crisis preparedness. Its total holdings remained unchanged at 612.4 tonnes, but the move reflects a growing focus on where reserves are held and how readily they can be accessed during a crisis.
