Congress Has Been Raising the Debt Ceiling Since the ’60s, Why Stop Now?

by Chris Black

When have Democrats EVER said the government should spend less money? Ever?

Or Republicans for that matter?

It’s the same every time this happens:

-Oh no, we spent too much money!

-We need to raise the Debt Ceiling! Just to cover the existing spending.

-*raise the debt ceiling*

-*new spending gets authorized*

-*hit debt ceiling again*

-We need to raise the Debt Ceiling! Just to cover the existing spending.

I know it’s all kayfabe, but if we can at least get some spending cuts for gender equality initiatives in Botswana and queer theory advocacy in Morocco, that would at least be better than nothing.

A serious Republican party would be asking for spending cuts on the level of abolishing entire federal agencies.

Abolish the Department of Education. Abolish the ATF. Abolish all the “civil rights” offices in every federal bureaucracy.

Most of what the federal government does is actively harmful to ordinary people anyway.

Most federal offices are illegitimate.

They will cave like always because this is all a show.
