Crowds demand Hong Kong’s top official quit after only pausing on China extradition plan

Protesters in Hong Kong marched Sunday in a fresh mass rally to demand the city’s top official step down after she suspended but did not withdraw controversial legislation that would allow extraditions to mainland China.

The Asian trade and finance center has been shaken by anti-government demonstrations over the past week, including last Sunday when hundreds of thousands turned out to denounce Chief Executive Carrie Lam and her plan for closer legal ties with China.
