Did the CIA Create ISIS?

Last November, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange declared that the “CIA created ISIS” alongside a release of 500,000+ cables from 1979.

Assange said that the decision made by the CIA, along with Saudi Arabia, to send large sums of money into arming the Mujahideen in Afghanistan during their fight against the Soviet Union, eventually led to the creation of al-Qaeda. This terror group was responsible for the 9/11 atrocities in New York, which resulted in the invasions of both Afghanistan and Iraq by the U.S. and the inception of ISIS.

The bloody year of 1979 would prove a pivotal one for the current makeup of the Middle East. “The uprising at Mecca permanently shifted Saudi Arabia towards Wahhabism, leading to the transnational spread of Islamic fundamentalism and the US-Saudi destabilisation of Afghanistan,” said Assange. Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden left Saudi Arabia for Pakistan in order to fight with the Afghan Mujahideen. The Saudi links to Saudi terror groups in the region are undeniable. There are many Saudi princes funding the bloodshed that never seems to stop in that part of the world.

Assange continued, “The rise of al-Qaeda eventually bore the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States, enabling the US invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq and over a decade of war, leaving, at its end, the ideological, financial and geographic basis for ISIS.” This case clear as day and reveals why events starting in 1979 and continuing through to today have paved the way for the creation of ISIS. Without the CIA’s funding of the Mujahideen and meddling in the political affairs of these Middle Eastern countries by force, we would not be stuck with the cancer that is this now widespread terror group.

Flash forward to June 2017 and now Iran claims to have actual proof of direct U.S. support for ISIS.

After President Trump made a combative claim after the recent ISIS attack in Tehran, saying, “states that sponsor terrorism risk falling victim to the evil they promote,” the Iranians hit back hard.

Senior Iranian officials responded to the president’s leveling of terrorist ties with its own accusation to match — the U.S. is supporting the Islamic State and forming an alliance with it. They also claim they have documents to prove these allegations.

The deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mostafa Izadi, declared, “As the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution (Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei) said, we possess documents and information showing the direct supports by the US imperialism for this highly disgusting stream (the ISIL) in the region which has destroyed the Islamic countries and created a wave of massacres and clashes.” This is quite a claim to put forward. No evidence has been presented yet.

While the CIA’s funding of the Mujahideen paved the way for terrorism to spread, ISIS would not have become what it is today without the flailing foreign policy America has implemented post 9/11. The horrendous Iraq invasion combined with Obama’s politically motivated pullout created the perfect environment. The never ending war in Afghanistan is a rallying call for terrorists around the world, to come join the fight against the infidels invading our lands. ISIS is responsible for all 6 U.S. combat deaths in Afghanistan so far this year, a place we have been since the end of 2001.

Thousands of Iranians gathered to commemorate those killed at the hands of ISIS, shouting “Death to Saudi Arabia” and “Death to America.”

It is paramount to keep history in mind when contemplating current circumstances.
