The West is not backing down.
This proxy war will turn into a real war in 2023 or early 2024 at the latest.
And while they can fight the proxy was with small volunteer armies and lots of fancy weapons, they cannot fight an open real war against Russia, literally WW3, without many, many times more soldiers.
