Europe is facing a third straight day of bomb threats, with fighter jets scrambling to escort passenger planes

At least 14 commercial flights across Europe were hit by bomb threats today, forcing emergency landings, diversions and military escorts. An Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Rome was diverted to a French military airbase, Finnair planes were escorted by Italian fighter jets, and three Ryanair flights headed for Bulgaria were intercepted. More than 20 hoax threats have now been reported this week. Tuesday’s incidents affected another 10 flights, including one that forced a temporary airport closure in Warsaw. Authorities have found no explosives, and the threats have been described as malicious hoaxes. But nobody has explained who is sending them or whether the incidents are coordinated. European airports and airlines are now dealing with repeated security scares across multiple countries.
