“Food supply chain breaking” & plants closing as now Trump signs executive order to keep meat plants open!

‘The Food Supply Chain Is Breaking.’ Tyson Foods Warns of Meat Shortage as Plants Close Due to COVID-19

The Arkansas-based company says food waste is also a threat, as “farmers across the nation simply will not have anywhere to sell their livestock to be processed, when they could have fed the nation.”

“Millions of animals —chickens, pigs and cattle— will be depopulated because of the closure of our processing facilities,” Tyson writes. “The food supply chain is breaking.”

In a stark warning, the chairman of Tyson’s Foods, the country’s second-largest meat producer, said he anticipated “meat shortages” stemming from the recent shutdown of processing plants.

Millions of pounds of meat will not make it to market, John Tyson wrote in a blog post this weekend. “As a result, there will be limited supply of our products available in grocery stores until we are able to reopen our facilities that are currently closed.”

More than a dozen major U.S. meat processing plants have shut their doors because of coronavirus outbreaks. The closures have sent a shockwave through farmers, truckers and distributors and it is expected to hit grocery stores and consumers next.

“The supply chain is breaking,” Tyson wrote.

what’s going on is not limited to United States, take Canada for example

McDonald’s Canada has announced that the company will temporarily be sourcing beef from outside the country, citing “unprecedented COVID-19 impacts” on the national beef supply chain.

President Trump on Tuesday declared meat processing plants “critical infrastructure,” in an effort to ensure that facilities around the country remained open as the government tried to prevent looming shortages of pork, chicken and other products as a result of the coronavirus.

In an executive order issued late Tuesday, Mr. Trump said recent closures of meat processing facilities “threaten the continued functioning of the national meat and poultry supply chain, undermining critical infrastructure during the national emergency.”

Processing plants around the country have shut down amid outbreaks, putting a strain on the nation’s slaughtering capacity and prompting food companies to warn of coming shortages at supermarkets. Farmers have begun killing pigs and chickens they can no longer sell to companies for processing.

Some things to think about…
Most all the economy on shutdown, most all people on lockdown and yet still Virus spreading all over throughout meat/chicken plants and etc causing many food plant shutdowns.

over two weeks ago I warned of a looming disaster of the virus spreading to food plants during the countrywide shutdown in part due to truck drivers going without protection into these facilities potentially infected and spreading this. Now since many meat plants have shutdown and Trump signed executive order to get them opened!
I am a truck driver and have seen sick truck drivers coughing and sneezing in shipping offices. This food plant spread has been foretold, quote below and you can click and view the rest of the post if you wish.

For example, at this moment somewhere an infected truck driver could be making a food delivery into a food packing warehouse.
The truck driver goes inside the warehouse to the office to have the bills signed and find out what dock door to back into.
While inside this driver sneezes spreading the virus inside this warehouse, it then gets caught by employees working there and then brought home to their families so on and so forth.
These types of things are happening and it’s contributing to the spread.
Hopefully this will be an example as why we must be careful and take necessary steps to prevent this spreading as we open up the economy.
For example truck drivers don’t have to go inside these food plants to sign bills, that can be done outside. Some customers already do this but only a small percentage. Also gloves and masks would be helpful.

What happened in all these meat plants are an example of what potentially could happen throughout the economy as it opens if we are negligent.
As people come off lockdown and economy opens up we must take steps to be safe.
We cannot have this spread crazy coming off of a lockdown, that would be a disaster.

Please share, we all can make a difference so hopefully we all can have a brighter future!
Thank you
