Iran-aligned Houthis fired three ballistic missiles Monday at a Yemeni government military training camp in Shabwa province, killing at least 18 people, government and medical sources told Reuters. Some reports put the death toll higher, including more than 50 in one account from local authorities. The attack hit soldiers during morning training. Fighting between the Saudi-backed government and the Houthis has escalated in recent weeks after a 2022 truce collapsed. Government forces have been trying to recapture ground near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The Houthis claimed responsibility and described the target as Saudi-backed forces.
