How poor or rich is your county?

by

On Thursday, December 6, 2018, the U.S. Census Bureau released its 2013-2017 American Community Survey’s 5-year trends on the median household income, poverty rates, and computer/Internet use of the 3,142 counties across the country.

Overall, Americans’ earnings are up, compared to the previous five-year period (2008 through 2012) under Obama the Great:

  • Median household income increased in 16.6% of counties (512 counties).
  • Poverty rates dropped in 14% of counties (441 counties).
  • Incomes declined in only 7.1% of counties (222 counties).
  • Overall, the U.S. poverty rate was 14.6% — a significant decrease from the 14.9% in 2008-2012.

But you wouldn’t know that if you rely only on the Hate America Media (HAM) for your news.

Of course, Obama the POS is claiming the improved economy as his achievement.

The map below shows the median household income for each county between 2013 and 2017. Median is the middle of a range of values, e.g., the number of 50 is the median of the values 1-100.

How does your county stack up?

I’m surprised that Nevada’s Elko and Lander counties, and Wyoming’s Teton and Sublette counties are so wealthy.
