The rest of the state wants to break free from Chicago because they are tired of Chicago policies destroying their cities
It’s been approved in more than 30 counties and 7 more are set to vote in November

This is big because Illinois has 19 electoral votes
If this were to go through, Chicago would be left with just 9 electoral votes and the new ‘Succeeding downstate’ would get 10. It’s estimated those 10 would now go to Republicans
