Dutch defense intelligence intercepted a 2017 Russian military hack of Jared Kushner’s personal mobile device, directly viewing screen captures of middle eastern bank transactions, according to a book excerpt by investigative author Matthew Cole. The report claims the Dutch agency observed Kushner accessing offshore accounts in Dubai containing roughly 2 billion dollars supplied by foreign officials. Kushner’s legal team issued a strong rejection of the book’s claims, calling the accounts non existent and threatening legal action.

The intelligence exposure highlights ongoing security scrutiny surrounding high ranking white house personnel using personal mobile devices for diplomatic communications. In September 2017, federal oversight officials launched reviews into senior administration staff who routinely relied on personal email servers and commercial mobile messaging platforms, bypassing standard government cybersecurity protections.
Factcheck: The Vanity Fair excerpt from Matthew Cole’s book accurately reports these allegations of Dutch intel monitoring Kushner’s phone and ~$2B in UAE/Saudi-linked accounts. Kushner denies them as “completely insane” and false, citing zero bank records or evidence. Claims rest on anonymous sources and lack independent verification or official confirmation.
The allegation is not proof. Until records or independent corroboration emerge, the reported $2 billion accounts remain an unverified claim.
