Judge throws out DOJ suit on Alaska Senate certification

U.S. District Judge Sharon Gleason dismissed the Justice Department lawsuit Sunday that sought to segregate ballots and delay certification of Alaska’s Senate race if GOP Sen. Dan Sullivan loses to Democrat Mary Peltola. Suit cited a second candidate named Daniel J. Sullivan. Gleason said DOJ lacked standing and any workable plan that preserved secret ballot; too late under Purcell. DOJ said it will appeal. Sullivan said he will accept the result.
