President Joe Biden is determined to get the $1.9 trillion spending package signed, sealed, and delivered soon so a “large majority” of Americans eligible for $1,400 checks will receive them before the end of the March, according to White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Monday.
“We expect a large majority of Americans to receive relief by the end of the month,” Psaki told reporters at the daily briefing. “But in terms of the mechanics of it, Treasury just has to work through that. An update will likely come from them, but we will keep you all abreast of it.”
Psaki stressed the bill still needs to return to pass again through the House and arrive at the president’s desk for an official signature, something that was hoped to be done by March 14.
