LINKEDIN CEOs ARE GETTING MORE UNHINGED

CEOs keep posting career advice on LinkedIn that somehow makes them look worse every single time.

One CEO says rejected job applicants should keep talking to the company after being rejected because maybe they can change the hiring manager’s mind.

Another says you won’t build a trillion-dollar company with work-life balance and brags that the office is still busy at 8 p.m. and on weekends.

Another boss says he told a 23-year-old employee to box up his PlayStation at home until he hit his sales numbers — then fired him when he didn’t.

Another founder openly warns candidates that they’ll get messages at 2 a.m. on Tuesdays and 9 p.m. on Saturdays and says employees need to work with the same intensity as the founder.

Then there’s the CEO who says he doesn’t hire people who walk slowly.

And somehow it keeps getting worse.

In this video, we’re going through CEO LinkedIn posts, corporate hustle culture, hiring red flags, founder mentality, work-life balance, micromanagement and the weird expectation that employees should treat someone else’s company like they personally own it.

There’s nothing wrong with working hard.

There’s nothing wrong with ambition.

But if someone expects an employee to live and breathe a company the same way its owner does, then the employee should probably receive some of the same upside.

Otherwise you’re asking somebody to make founder-level sacrifices for employee-level control.

You can work late.

You can come in early.

You can skip weekends.

You can make your boss’s life easier.

You can go above and beyond every day.

And none of that guarantees the company will reward you with a raise, promotion or even job security.

So why are so many executives online presenting this as though employees should feel lucky to sacrifice their personal lives for somebody else’s business?

What’s the most ridiculous CEO or manager advice you’ve ever seen on LinkedIn?
