Bloomberg reported late October 28 that Marvell is in advanced talks to acquire Lumentum, with a deal possible as soon as next week. Lumentum valued around $83 billion, Marvell around $221 billion. Marvell shares fell about 12 percent today while Lumentum rose. Marvell bought photonics firm Celestial AI for $3.25 billion late last year. Lumentum CEO told Bloomberg Television on October 9 the company is almost sold out for 2029 on some products. Amazon holds a warrant from 3M that vests largely on optical data-center purchases, full at $6 billion.
