More details:

  • YMCA submitted 19 WARN notices in March, laying off a total of 9,991 employees in eight states, 3,400 of them are in Pennsylvania;
  • 1,498 employees of Cinemark Theatres are losing their jobs, 485 of them are in Nevada;
  • Grocery store chain Hy-Vee is laying off a total of 1,463 workers in Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska;
  • 1,354 employees of the entertainment brand Punch Bowl Social is being laid off in nine different states;
  • Trans States Airlines is ceasing operation and laying off 1,328 employees in Illinois, North Carolina, Colorado, Missouri and Kentucky;
  • Alsco, a linen and uniform rental company, is laying off a total of 1,047 workers in eleven states including Florida, North Carolina, Oregon
    and Virginia;
  • Kirchhoff Automotive is laying off a total of 1,011 workers in Texas,
    Ohio, Michigan and Tennessee;
  • Driven Brands (Take 5 Oil Change) is laying off 506 workers in seven states;
  • Stationery retailer Paper Source submitted a total of 20 WARN notices in March, laying off 407 employees in fourteen states;
  • Cisco Systems shed 395 jobs in San Jose and Milpitas of California;
  • Real estate developer Onni Group is laying off a total of 296 employees in Illinois, Washington and Arizona;
  • There is no surprise that the hospitality and restaurant industries are hit especially hard in this economic downturn.
