ANGELA Merkel’s German government could be on the brink of collapse as a major row over her migration policy continues to escalate.
Interior minister Horst Seehofer has repeatedly clashed with Angela Merkel over his plans to turn away asylum seekers at the German border.
Mr Seehofer was due to reveal his proposals today – but he was forced to call off a press conference after Mrs Merkel blocked the plans.
The row between Mrs Merkel and the minister have sparked fears of a power struggle at the heart of Germany‘s fragile government.
Any move to sack Mr Seehofer, a hardline conservative, could lead to the collapse of the coalition, which only formed in March.
