More tankers struck in the Middle East as Iran reiterates conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz

The U.S. Air Force withdrew all of its B-1 bombers stationed at an air base in southern England that is used by American military forces to strike Iran after an investigation discovered a planned terror attack, The Associated Press reported Sunday.

The bombers were redeployed back to their home bases in the United States, AP reported, citing a Pentagon official who was not authorized to discuss sensitive military movements and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Aviation watchers such as the Military Air Tracking Alliance and others have observed dozens of B-52 and B-1 bombers operating out of RAF Fairford since the opening days of the Iran war, AP said. These observers saw many B-1 bombers take off from the base on Sunday.

A dual British-Iranian national was arrested in central London last week on suspicion of plotting a terror attack, following a security incident at RAF Fairford in late September. In total, authorities took six individuals into custody and later released them on bail during the investigation.

British authorities have linked the terror plot to Tehran, although Iran has denied involvement.

RAF Fairford is located 100 miles (160 kilometers) west of London and has been used by American bombers during decades of conflicts in the Middle East.
