Nobody Has EVER Seen Flooding Like This Around Lake Powell

Leftover moisture from Hurricane Trudy sent the San Juan River and several neighboring rivers to record heights across the Four Corners in late October 2026. Families were pulled off rooftops, about fifteen hundred homes were evacuated in one county alone, and emergency declarations followed in Colorado and on tribal lands, while river gauges at Farmington and Shiprock stopped reporting with the water still rising.

The flood is also heading for Lake Powell, which set a modern record low only weeks earlier. This report follows the water from the mountains to the lake, sorts out what the gauges, the dam and the official numbers actually show, and explains what to watch next as the river and the lake keep changing.
