NYC Board of Elections "illegally purged over 200,000 NYers from the rolls, violating the law and NYers trust in the institution meant to protect their rights"

State Attorney General Eric Scheiderman said NYC Board of Elections “illegally purged over 200,000 NYers from the rolls, violating the law and NYers trust in the institution meant to protect their rights”.
BUT instead of prosecuting them in court, they decided to work on a settlement wherein the terms include the Board of Elections acknowledging it broke state and federal law with the purge.
Sending the message that it’s okay to screw voters; all you’ll get is a slap on the wrist.
Seems like prosecuting would be a better means of deterring this injustice in the future.
